Operating Temperature-20°C to +220°C
FKM (Fluoroelastomer), widely known by the DuPont brand name Viton®, is the industry benchmark for high-temperature and aggressive-chemical sealing. It outperforms most other elastomers in heat resistance, chemical resistance and compression set.
Key Properties
- Outstanding resistance to fuels, oils, acids and hot water
- Excellent high-temperature performance up to 220°C continuous
- Low gas permeability
- Excellent resistance to mineral-based hydraulic fluids
- Superior compression set resistance at elevated temperatures
Limitations
- Poor resistance to ketones (MEK, acetone), methanol and glycol-based brake fluids
- Limited low-temperature flexibility below -20°C
- Higher cost than standard elastomers
Typical Hardness
70 Shore A standard; 60–90 Shore A available
Typical Applications
- Chemical processing plants
- Oil and gas downhole equipment
- Automotive fuel injection systems
- Aerospace hydraulic systems
- Pharmaceutical reactors
- High-temperature valves and pumps
