Petrochemical Applications
Oil drilling is very demanding because seals have to work under extreme conditions. If a seal fails, the resulting repairs and production stoppages are very costly.
Seals in drilling equipment are exposed to hydrocarbons, superheated steam, H₂S, CO₂, methane, and amine-based corrosion inhibitors — plus temperatures from below 0°C to over 200°C and high pressures.
To cope with these aggressive combinations the following must be granted at the same time: chemical resistance, outstanding physical properties, elasticity across a wide temperature range, and resistance against explosive decompression (AED).
We've successfully provided sealing solutions for ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, regulating valves, plug valves, seat valves, check valves, metering and control valves, valve actuators, blowout preventers (BOP), flexible pipe couplings, Xmas trees, drill drives, and marine cranes.
FKM, bisphenolic cured
Maximum thermal rating (+240°C), excellent resistance against hydrocarbons also aromatic, good physical properties, limited resistance to steam and H₂S (max 2000 ppm). Special compounds for AED.
FEPM, AFLAS®
Excellent thermal rating (+230°C), outstanding resistance against bases and H₂S (up to 30%), limited resistance to hydrocarbons and aromatic substances, limited low temperature flexibility. Special compounds for AED.
HNBR
Maximum physical properties, good thermal rating (+160°C), good steam and H₂S (max 5000 ppm) resistance, limited resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons. Special compounds for AED.
FKM, peroxide cured
Excellent thermal rating (+220°C), special grades for low temperatures, good resistance to bases, limited resistance to H₂S. Special compounds for AED.
FFKM, evolast®
Outstanding thermal rating (+330°C), outstanding resistance towards aggressive chemicals, acids, organic and inorganic fluids, ketones, esters, solvents, amines, hot water and steam. Special compounds for AED.
