Operating Temperature-60°C to +200°C
Silicone (VMQ — Vinyl Methyl Silicone) offers the widest operating temperature range of any common elastomer. Its excellent flexibility at extreme temperatures, food-grade options and outstanding electrical properties make it a preferred material for medical, food and electronic applications.
Key Properties
- Widest temperature range: -60°C to +200°C
- Excellent flexibility and elasticity at very low temperatures
- Outstanding dielectric and electrical insulation properties
- FDA and food-grade grades available
- Good resistance to ozone, UV and oxygen ageing
Limitations
- Poor resistance to mineral oils, fuels and most solvents
- Low tensile strength and poor abrasion resistance
- Not suitable for high-pressure dynamic sealing
